A quiet mountain retreat in Liguria.
For those who need rest more than itinerary.
Sogni D’Oro is not a hotel.
It’s a home in the hills.
An old Ligurian farmhouse where mornings are slow, windows open to mountain air, and the river is close enough to hear after heavy rain.
You won’t find room service or schedules here.
You’ll find space. Time. And the kind of quiet that gently rearranges things inside you.
We sit 500 metres above sea level, overlooking the Borbera Valley, two kilometres above the village of Cabella Ligure.
The Apennine mountains rise around us - peaks reaching 1800 metres.
On clear days, you can see towards the Alps in one direction, and the Mediterranean in the other.
It’s a landscape that invites you outside.
To walk.
To breathe.
To slow down.
Sogni D’Oro is a shared home-stay.
We live here full-time and welcome guests from early spring through autumn.
There is no breakfast served at a set hour.
Instead, guests use the shared kitchenette - with tea and coffee, a hob, fridge, toaster, and a table to gather around.
Mornings unfold in your own time.
Bathrooms are shared.
There is a dedicated car park.
It’s simple.
Comfortable.
And intentionally unhurried.
“Facilities are clean and bright, with an atmosphere that makes visitors feel at home immediately.”
The views of the surrounding countryside are lovely, with easy access to the vibrant village of Cabella. The hostess in particular is always welcoming, concerned with everyone's welfare, and seeks out any way in which she can make her guests even more comfortable. For those days when one wants to relax, there are well-stocked bookshelves and a music and film collection. There is also a meditation room. All the bathrooms are well-appointed. On hot days, there is a pool and a waterfall at the river to swim and cool off.
Highly recommended for those who want a relaxing holiday in the Italian countryside.
